Wonderfully titillating, but INCREDIBLY mean-spirited. The eponymous sorcerer's daughter manages to be both a Mary Sue and a bitch at the same time, and the protagonist is punished far more than he deserves. Indeed, the whole story is about mages who treat people like objects, punishing a man for. . . treating people like objects. So, awesome BE, horrible morals.

A very very long story but excellent anyway.
I too thought of a different ending the other night where he wakes up and finds himself a black woman in the old american south and he is left there to be a pregnant slave to a wicked plantation owner.
