I enjoyed reading your story a lot. And had no issues with the offstage growth. I thought it fit the story well. Just label it offstage and contiune writing.

A very entertaining read. Some of the growth was a bit quick and off screen and I would have liked for the story to spend little more time on that. But what's here is an excellent quick fantasy. I'll be looking forward to your sequel.
